As often as we ride this loop, from Mannheim, over the Theodor-Heuss bridge at Frankenthal, to Worms, across the Nibelung bridge, and back via Lampertheim towards Mannheim … open skies above, pristine bike paths underneath, calm fields and meadows all around … and all-in-all well protected from general traffic. What’s not to like?
For years I wanted to take the picture below, and always missed out: The “Nibelungen-Brücke” (“Nibelung Bridge”) over the river Rhine at Worms, viewed through the last leaves on the trees. This route has been a staple of my winter rides ever since I took up cycling again in 2015.
