Tracking the Tigger towards & across the Pyrenees (#TPRNo4)

Follow Plushtigger’s tracks, while he attempts to ride with #TPRNo4cap33 from somewhere in France to Girona, from there traversing the Pyrenees cols from east to west to Donostia on the Atlantic coast, and eventually and hopefully back again.

(The map below is interactive. Use your mouse/trackpad to zoom in and out and click or tap on any of the tracked points for additional information!)

Note: as last time for TPRNo2 in 2022, I am traveling to the start (and from wherever I finish or not) via public transport and, of course, by bike. For 2024 the key difference being an intentionally extended bike ride, from Valence in South-East France to Girona, in Catalunya/Spain:

I am just now on TGV INOUI #2203 from Strasbourg to Lyon Part-Dieu, hoping to catch TER 886115 to Valence.

With especially the German railways in a sorry state of reliability when it comes to meeting their schedule, yesterday’s train ride combined with a few hours of mobile work almost turned outright disaster with already the first train I boarded encountering a blocked track barely 20 minutes into the journey towards Bremen. All-in-all, reaching my overnight stay in Strasbourg took about 14 hours instead of ideally only eight.

What is a bummer: some bad luck on the TGV just now broke a tiny piece on my rear derailleur. Good that I brought a spare. I will attempt a repair on the TER, if the circumstances permit. Otherwise this will set me back already before the first “real” kilometer of my ride.

Update: repair complete, yet some on/off bike adjustment of cable tension still ahead of a good ride
