I reached the Plateau Iratzordoky (946 m, pictured above) around sunset. And the scenery and twilight were a bit eerie, yet at the same time strangely comforting: In the dark, you see less and less of the surrounding mountains, so their enormity is not as intimidating.
Over the course of the climb I had to change into my rain gear as the mixture of rain and clouds thickened, fine drops of water permeating everything that wasn’t waterproof. Luckily, this also meant that on the French side the night was rather warm. And it would get cold soon enough.
